Free Learning Activities

Besides the opportunities for learning that students have in class, we encourage students to participate in the ALC's free Learning Activities, which provide additional practice time with other learners in fun ways. Opportunities offered generally every term include a Film Series, a Drama Club, a Writing Center, and extra activity sessions for Beginning One and Beginning Two students. Other fun learning opportunities, depending on the term, might include the Pronunciation Center, Word Games, Children’s Story Hour and/or Juniors’ Story Hour.

All of the above organized learning activities are conducted by qualified teachers. Any ALC student with a valid ALC student card can attend these activities free of charge.

ALC Activities for Spring 2011 (free)

Music Club for Juniors
Gives students a chance to learn new songs and sing.

ALC Journalism Club
Students write and publish articles, interviews, and other content, and edit and produce a newletter for each term.

Beginning 1: Extra Practice

This activity is designed to provide extra support for those who are just at the start of their English language learning adventures!

Beginning 2: Extra Practice
This activity is designed to provide extra support for those who need additional support and practice for one of our more challenging levels.

Story Hour/Arts & Crafts for children
This activity makes for some fun and creative use of after class time and using English in new situations.

Film Series
We feature films and documentaries with discussion to get students involved in comprehension of natural speech.

Drama Club for Adults
Students perform skits, role plays, and short plays to create and use the language in new situations, as well as perform.

Computer Assisted Language Learning Lab
Our CALL lab features specialized language software designed to support your studies, and we offer listening activities for revising class audio.
